Sahil Khurana:

Living up to its name in the true sense is the Desktop Computer Project by designer Matt Swift, a student of Design Visualization at Bournemouth University, UK. He has creatively combined his project into the surface of the desk and crafted a sheer masterpiece.

The idea behind his project was to make ample space available for the user while reducing the dependency on the machine as well. By infusing the computer inside the table, he has provided relative ease and comfort to the user when it comes to space and utility. The computer screen can be raised for use and can be folded and fitted neatly inside when not required. Use the screen as a part of the table as and when required. For making use of the computer screen, all you need to do is lift and type away.

This is not where the buck stops, though. His main idea comes into the picture when other such computers are connected together to form a link known as “Nodes”. While the nodes can be combined to form a foursome structure, the main idea of teamwork is further enhanced. Couple up these nodes with other nodes and experience how explicitly data can be transferred to and fro from one node to another. Using the simple concept of link and share, The Desktop Computer Project has proved its efficiency in all fields possible.

In case you want to perform as an independent unit, you can do so as well. But at times, when sharing is required, all you need is a single flick to send data like files, web pages, etc. from one screen to another. All it requires is a flick towards the direction of the receiver’s node and you would be rearing to go. The other person would receive the request and he/she would need to accept it before the transfer begins.

The concept is relatively simple when it comes to utility but the design is what steals the show any day. Here’s wishing luck to Matt for his ingenious University project as it exemplifies the oncoming of the future.
