The hardcore alpha male may not realize it, but shopping is an activity that is quite central to women’s social life. There was a time when women couldn’t step out in public without chaperones. In the modern world, the need for a companion while shopping has resulted in finding shopping buddies and BFFs we bond with for great buys. However, at times when company is scarce, shopping can also be a bit of a chore, which is why this Mobile Phone created by San Francisco-based designer Ruixiao Zhang, is a great concept for shopping.
The EOFSM uses in-store Wi-Fi systems to connect solo shoppers with their peeps on social networks and also provides them with valuable info related to the purchases they are interested in making. Designed keeping in mind the needs of women in particular, the handy gizmo draws inspiration for its shape from the design of women’s handbags. A rotating top circle allows users to choose between the phone’s entertainment, communication and shopping functions.
The device allows shoppers to scan the barcodes of products and view detailed info on them via the phone’s in-built browser. This function can be particularly helpful when a store doesn’t have the product you are looking for or if you want to know where you can get the dress you like in your size. The EOFSM hooks onto bags with ease so users can shop handsfree or they can also plug in their headphones and give their favorite new tracks a listen while they shop. The connectivity functions on the phone make it easier to get opinions from online friends and makes shopping fun even when you are on your own.
