Studio Bang has invented a deployable parametric bridge ideal for mountain passes and other spaces. The design for this modular and adaptable bridge is primarily based on parametric strategies and digital innovation. The structure of the bridge consists of four different data points. These points are situated in the front, rear and middle of the bridge. The point of having so many parameterized points is to create the right dynamic to steer the cross-section at 3 crucial areas. Based on the current scheme of things these specific points create three individual frames for each end of the bridge including the middle one.
The whole frame is an outcome of the connection between these points. The four points join up to create a triangulated polyline to keep the base of the load. Hence the weight is shifted to the each side of the bridge. The triangles then are offsetted keeping in mind the position of the sun. By placing the two curves in an high altitude position, it modifies into a rigid and diamond like structure.
The idea behind digital fabrication and parametric designing is to receive maximum output from the complete design process. It also saves up a lot of time, material and the end result structure is strong and reliable. Deployable parametric bridges are easy to construct, move and position.
The complications regarding bridge placement are also negligible. All the angles pertaining to the modular bridge are measured to empower them with electronic press breaks. After receiving laser modified elements from the inventory, the only task left for construction worker is to close all the sixteen screws one by one. Once the elements are closed, the modules can be carried to the site where the bridge needs to be placed or created. Only two construction workers are required to connect all the screws, the procedure takes less than forty eight hours.
